Ice Model Basin

This facility is intended for ice tests with ship models of up to 7m in length and 1.3m in width, propulsion units up to 0.25m in diameter, offshore platform models of up to 2.5m in width, and towed objects.

Basin dimensions:

length: 45m
width: 6m
depth: 1.75m

Towing carriage speeds range from 0.5·10-3 to 1.2m/sThe maximum ice thickness is 0.08mThe minimum temperature is -32°C

Ice Model Basin

Equipment:
a towing carriage with a set of dynamometers for forces and moments on models of Arctic offshore structures, ship and propeller models; a set-up for testing fixed platforms by pushing the ice against them (with an adjustable-compliance elastic foundation for the model platform).
