Basin enables to achieve the following tasks:
- Finding surface and three-dimensional distributions of electric
potentials and currents for contact corrosion and electrochemical
protection of metallic structures in seawater
- Selecting the best suitable parameters for corrosion protection
systems
- Validating software for computer simulations
The facility consists of:
- Dielectric tank of 2.7m x 1m x 1m in size
- Fixtures for fitting and positioning models in terms of three
planes
- Traversing gears for the measuring probe
- Model boundary condition setting system
- Device («extender») for eliminating distorting wall and bottom
effects
- Measurement system for potentials and currents of model sources
and the water potential
- Data logging, procession and storage system (PC-based)
