The Electrolytic Basin for steady electric field modelling

Basin enables to achieve the following tasks:

  • Finding surface and three-dimensional distributions of electric potentials and currents for contact corrosion and electrochemical protection of metallic structures in seawater
  • Selecting the best suitable parameters for corrosion protection systems
  • Validating software for computer simulations

The facility consists of:

  • Dielectric tank of 2.7m x 1m x 1m in size
  • Fixtures for fitting and positioning models in terms of three planes
  • Traversing gears for the measuring probe
  • Model boundary condition setting system
  • Device («extender») for eliminating distorting wall and bottom effects
  • Measurement system for potentials and currents of model sources and the water potential
  • Data logging, procession and storage system (PC-based)
