It was on his initiative and with
his personal creative participation that the Krylov Institute
resolved many sophisticated practical tasks and challenges associated
with surface ships, submarines and commercial vessels (low-vibration
propellers, hullform optimisation, hull structure fatigue life
improvement, R&D support to various defence and commercial
marine projects, etc.).
Academician Pashin has guided teams
that formulated naval doctrines and construction programmes, business
development plans of the national shipbuilding industry, national
and international naval and merchant shipbuilding development
predictions.
Academician Pashin willingly shares
his vast expertise with the younger generations as a lecturer
at the St.Petersburg State Maritime Technical University where
he heads the Ship Design Department.
For many years and today, V.M.Pashin
has been and is an active public scientist in various scientific
boards and commissions attached to the Russian President office,
the Security Council, the Russian Federation Government, The RF
Ministry of Industry, Science & Technology and the St.Petersburg
Governors' office. Besides, he a member of the Presidium of the
Russian Academy of Sciences.
V.M.Pashin is a member of the Advisory
Council of the International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC), a
fellow of the International Institute of Marine Engineering, Science
& Technology (IMarEST) and a member of the European Engineering
Council where he is entitled to act as an international project
evaluation expert.
