Mid-1930's ~ late 1930's  

The Naval ship Research Institutes performs design (the earlier stages) of 'big' (ocean) navy ships, including Pr.23 battleships, Pr.69 heavy cruisers, Pr.28 and Pr.68 light cruisers, Pr.7, Pr.7U and Pr.3O destroyers, submarines of all major sub-classes and fighting boats.

Appointment of a new Director of the Institute: Engineer-Captain 2nd Rank I.V.Kharitonov.

The Naval Ship Research Institute moves to the USSR People's Commissariat of Defence Industries where it becomes the principal 'scientific research institute' of the shipbuilding industry and gets a new name: NII-45. A separate Shipbuilding Industry People's Commissariat evolves out of the Commissariat of Defence Industries. The head of the new body I.F.Tevosian initiates transferring the Naval Ship Research Institute from the Red Navy to the industry with the service personnel remaining on the Navy lists.
