ECOLOGICAL MONITORING AND ENGINEERING SURVEYSThe Institute carries out hydro- and geophysical measurements for ecological monitoring and engineering surveys in the water areas of port construction sites, oil and gas offshore platforms, in the regions of the underwater pipeline installation. In the area of ecological monitoring and engineering surveys the Krylov Institute offers:
These surveys are also performed to study the ecology of the sea areas where waterside structures are constructed or operated as well as for monitoring the environment of the dumping sites for ecologically hazardous wastes. Hydro- and geophysical measurements are taken using multi-parameter probes (SBE 19 plus, YSI 6920), acoustic current meters (ADCP Workhorse, ADCP BB DR Sontek ADV), radar current meter CODAR Sea Sonde, meters of the water optical characteristics (turbidity testers OBS 3, LISST 25, fluorimeters Minitrack, Backscatter). Geophysical measurements are carried out using acoustic bottom profile recorders (StrataBox, Bathy2000P), classifier of benthic sediments QTCView, sonar systems Echotrack Mark II, JRC FF-30. The above-mentioned systems enable to perform measurements at water depths ranging from 3 m up to 2000 m. State-of-the-art navigation systems are used in measurements for mapping the sea water and bottom parameters with high accuracy and high spatial resolution. Data processing is performed using multi-factor analysis providing real-time visual distributions of the medium parameters, specifically useful for prediction of emergency situations and accident management.
