ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
The Krylov Institute provides comprehensive electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solutions for naval and commercial ships and other marine engineering structures and transport vehicles including electromagnetic environment monitoring.
In the area of electromagnetic compatibility the Krylov Institute offers:
- Development of management and technical measures for ship and equipment designers;
- Guidelines for calculating:
- Electromagnetic fields within ship compartments and on upper deck under operation of radio communication and radar equipment;
- Screening of rooms, equipment and cable routings considering various screen configurations;
- Electric interferences induced in communication and control cables, earthing circuits and other components of electronic equipment;
- Expert EMC assessment of ship electronic systems including estimation of efficiency and completeness of EMC measures and validation of equipment location requirements;
- Estimation of the radio-electronic systems and components stability under powerful impulse electromagnetic fields including those induced by radioactive sources;
- Justification of test scope and development of guidelines for test-bed EMC equipment trials including all types of electromagnetic interference (EMI) across the whole frequency range;
- Expert assessment of design documents and inspections of real industrial facilities and transport vehicles for detecting EMI sources hampering operation of radio-electronic equipment and PCs, determination of electromagnetic field levels;
- Justification of required and sufficient EMC test scope for the equipment delivered for installation;
- Scientific assistance in the development of measures intended for ensuring EMC at industrial facilities and transport vehicles;
- Tests of EMC parameters;
- Methodological support of the efforts aimed at reducing electromagnetic fields at work places to the values prescribed in sanitary standards.
The Krylov Institute is equipped with the unique Mobile Instrumental Complex for research studies and practical applications.
Sources and recepients of electromagnetic emissions in submarine
The complex includes:
- primary transducers for measuring electric and magnetic fields, power flow density, voltages and currents in a wide range of frequencies (from 0 Hz to tens of GHz);
- low-frequency spectrum analyser with frequency range of 16Hz to 12.5kHz and stand-alone power supply;
- high-frequency spectrum analyser with frequency range of 9 kHz to 26GHz and stand-alone power supply;
- two-channel high-frequency oscillograph;
- portable electromagnetic interference (EMI) generators;
- PC and small-size plotter.
This complex enables direct measurements at the facilities of electronic equipment manufacturers resulting in significant savings of test cost and time without shipment of test units to special-purpose laboratory EMC test beds.
