Russian shipbuilding and shipping in the
global market (St. Petersburg, Russia, September 2425,
2003)
The seventh international conference Russian Shipbuilding and Shipping
in the Global Market took place in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the Lenexpo
Exhibition Complex site, during 24-25 September 2003.
NEVA-2003 Conference being a traditional event of the NEVA exhibition,
which is known as one of the largest world maritime exhibitions, this
year was timed with the tercentenary of St. Petersburg.
The Conference was jointly organized by Krylov Shipbuilding Research
Institute, Russia, Dolphin Exhibitions Ltd., UK, and Transtec Neva Exhibitions,
Russia.
The Conference addressed the problems, current status and future trends
in the shipbuilding, shipping and related industries.
The Conference highlighted the following topics:
Commercial sea-going and inland waterway vessels: new projects
and ideas
Shipbuilding and shipping with state of the art information technologies,
issues of onboard safety, security, insurance, law and finance
Ocean and offshore engineering and transport including supply and
support ships for offshore development
Power plants for ships and offshore structures
Future trends and realities for ferry, cruise and passenger shipping
Ports of Russia: development of facilities, links, vessel traffic
and navigation safety including transportation and storage of oil
and gas.
The Conference was attended by representatives from Estonia, Germany,
Kazakhstan, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Ukraine, United
Kingdom and USA.
The total number of Russian and foreign participants reached over
200 persons. The Conference was attended by representatives of more
than 50 Russian and foreign companies.
The Programme Committee chaired by Professor S.I. Logachev, D.Sc.(Tech),
selected 76 papers for the Conference Technical Programme, the total
number of authors (co-authors) was over 150. Summaries of the papers
were collected in a pre-printed volume of the Conference Proceedings.
Thirteen papers at the NEVA-2003 Conference were presented by the authors
from Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute.
