to simposium server
The International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" is a forum jointly held by the East European Acoustical
Association and the Krylov Shipbuilding Research Institute.
The symposium is convened every second year since 1992, and is the world's
only acoustic meeting dedicated to noise and vibration control for various
kinds of vehicles (ships, trains, aircraft, cars, etc.).
The Symposium Organising Committee includes famous scientists and experts,
as well as representatives of principal companies specialising in transport
noise and vibration control from different countries.
The First International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" was held in St.Petersburg at the Pulkovskaya Hotel
on October 6-8, 1992.
The Organising Committee was co-chaired by A.S.Nikiforov, principal
researcher, KSRI and M.Hekl, director, Technical Acoustical Institute
(Germany).
Symposium sections:
- Theoretical studies on sound radiation and vibration of structures;
- Methods of vibroacoustic studies and diagnostics;
- Motor transport noise reduction;
- Methods and equipment for noise and vibration reduction;
- Flow acoustics;
- Effects of noise and vibration upon human beings.
About 200 scientists from 13 countries
have participated in the symposium. Among the participants of the associated
acoustic exhibition were Brul & Kjaer (Denmark), Inter-Keller (Switzerland),
KSRI and Planets-Complex (Russia).
The symposium enjoyed 80 papers, and their summaries were published
both in Russian and in English languages.
The Second International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" was held in St.Petersburg at the Military Medical
Academy Club during September 24-26, 1994.
The Organising Committee was co-chaired by A.S.Nikiforov, principal
researcher, KSRI and M.Hekl, director, Technical Acoustical Institute
(Germany).
The symposium was organised as co-operative undertaking of the East
European Acoustical Association and International Institute of Noise
Control Engineering (IINCE).
Symposium sections:
- Main problems of transport noise and vibration;
- Motor transport noise and vibration;
- Rail transport noise and vibration;
- Air transport noise and vibration;

- Traffic noise.
About 150 experts from 12 countries have
attended the symposium. Bruel & Kjaer (Denmark), Prodera (France), KSRI,
Octava+ (Russia) participated in the concurrent exhibition of acoustic
products.
There were 96 reports and they were published in the Symposium Proceedings
in English.
The Third International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" was held in St.Petersburg at the Officers' Club
during September 23-25, 1996.
The symposium co-chairmen were A.S.Nikiforov, principal researcher,
KSRI and M.Hekl, director, Technical Acoustical Institute (Germany).
The symposium was organised as a co-operative venture of the East European
Acoustical Association and the Federation of Acoustical Societies of
Europe (FASE).
Symposium sections:
- Rail transport noise and vibration;
- Motor transport noise and vibration;
- Air transport noise and vibration;
- Ship noise and vibration;
- Traffic noise;
- Diagnostics and vibroacoustic studies;
- Vibration and sound radiation of transport structures;
- Effects of noise and vibration upon human beings and the environment.
About 130 scientists and experts from
12 countries have attended the Symposium. Brul & Kjaer (Denmark), KSRI,
the Popov Institute, Dalsviaz, ELAT, VAST, Octava+ (Russia) took part
in the exhibition of acoustic products.
There were heard 70 reports presented by Symposium participants and
published in the Proceedings in English.
During the Symposium FASE members have held their 25th session under
the chairmanship of its President Prof.R.Chivers (UK).
The Fourth International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" met in Tallinn (Estonia) at the Estonian National
Library on June 6-8, 1998.
Symposium co-chairmen were A.S.Nikiforov, principal researcher, KSRI
and Y.Metsaveer, Director of the Applied Mechanics Institute of the
Tallinn Polytechnic University.
The symposium was organised jointly by the East European Acoustical
Association and the European Acoustical Association.
Symposium sections:
- General problems of transport noise and vibration;
- Rail transport noise and vibration;
- Motor transport noise and vibration;
- Air transport noise and vibration;
- Ship noise and vibration.
About 90 scientists and experts from 15
countries participated in the Symposium.
Participants of the acoustic exhibition were Brul & Kjaer and Akustik
Data (Denmark).
There were 63 papers by Symposium participants published in the Proceedings
in English.
The Fifth International Symposium "Transport
Noise and Vibration" was held in St.Petersburg at Kochoubey's Mansion
(Pushkin) on June 6-8, 2000. The Symposium will be dedicated to the
300th anniversary of St.Petersburg and the 10th anniversary of the East
European Acoustical Association.
The chairman of the Symposium Organising Committee is A.S.Nikiforov,
principal researcher, KSRI.
Symposium sections:
- Rail transport noise and vibration;
